Green Button Alliance Announces Results of 2021 Board of Directors Election

The Green Button Alliance concluded its sixth annual Board of Directors election and is pleased to announce the addition of its new board members:

  • James “Jay” Lewis, CEO, Big Data Energy Services was elected to serve in a two-year seat;
  • Jeff Hendler, CEO, Logical Buildings was elected to a one-year seat and
  • John Anderson, Director of Energy Markets, OhmConnect was re-elected to another one-year term.

In addition, on 12 January, Officers of the board…

  • Syed Mir, London Hydro (GBA Chair),
  • Daniel Roesler, UtilityAPI (GBA Vice-Chair), and
  • John Anderson, OhmConnect (GBA Secretary)
were reaffirmed by the board to continue in their current Officer positions. Joining the board leadership and newly affirmed in the Treasurer position is Travis Arnce, ENGIE Resources, who assumes the role which was previously held by Cengizhan Yenerim, ENGIE. The GBA welcomes its new directors who commenced their positions on GBA’s Board of Directors on 01 January 2021.

2019 GBA Annual General Meeting

The Green Button Alliance’s 2019 Annual General Meeting to be held at CS Week

The Green Button Alliance’s Annual General Meeting will gather digital utilities, energy-efficiency innovators, governmental agencies, research institutes, and affiliate organizations interested in learning about the latest on the industry’s Green Button energy data-access and secure data-sharing standard.

GBA members and non-members are invited to attend the 1-hour face-to-face meeting being held at CS Week in Phoenix, Arizona, on Wednesday, 10 April, from 8:30-9:30 am MST (arrive at 8:15 to meet everyone).

Those that are unable to attend in-person may participate remotely; RSVP either way. 

The meeting will address:

  • Green Button 2018 Accomplishments
  • Green Button Connect My Data Technical Update
  • Green Button 2019 & Look Ahead

2019 GBA Board Election Results

Green Button Alliance Announces Results of 2019 Board of Directors Election

The Green Button Alliance has concluded its third annual Board of Directors election. John Anderson, Director of Energy Markets, OhmConnect was elected by the GBA's Participating Membership to serve in a two-year seat and Bill Pfister, Director Financial Analysis, Edison Electric Institute (EEI) was elected to serve in a one-year seat.

The GBA welcomes the new directors who join the GBA Board of Directors on 01 January 2019.

2019 GBA Board Election

Voting for representatives from the Participating Member tier of the Green Button Alliance ends Thursday. 

Two seats are available for the 2019 year on the GBA Board of Directors to be filled by Participating Members.  Candidates are elected only by the primary representative of other Participating Member companies/organizations but anyone from a Participating Member firm in good standing can run for election. 

The voting closes on November 15th, 2018, so if you are the representative from a GBA Participating Member company, please cast your ballot today.  Not sure if you are the right person; give us a call.

2019 GBA Board Nominations Open

Nominations opened today to all Participating Members of the Green Button Alliance (GBA) for election to the GBA Board of Directors for the year 2019.

Participating Member companies/organizations are eligible to have a representative elected to the Board of Directors; to serve a one- or two-year term representing their firm and representing the Participating Member category within the GBA. 

If you or someone at your firm is interested in participating as a voting member of the Board of Directors, please express your interest by replying to the email message sent with the subject of  “GBA Participating Member Elections - Nominations to employees of Participating Member firms that were in our database as-of today.  If you did not receive an email message inviting you to run for election, and you work for a Participating Member firm, please contact us for assistance.

Nominations must be received before the close of the 30th of October 2018.

Details:

Two seats are up for election for the calendar year of 2019.  The candidate receiving the greatest number of votes will be eligible to serve a two-year term (pending continued corporate membership).

Webinar: Green Button 101

The Green Button Alliance hosted a webinar, "Green Button 101", on 13 October 2016 to educate the industry and consumers on the many powerful capabilities of the Green Button data-access standard, as well as communicate real-world benefits from a leading U.S. utility and application-provider perspective.  GBA general manager Jeremy J. Roberts, Paul Monette of founding member Southern California Edison (SCE) and Elena Lucas of member UtilityAPI presented. The webinar featured a lively Q&A session enabling the presenters to answer questions from  attendees. In case you missed it, access the Q&A here.

Green Button Alliance Hosts Panel at DR & DER World Forum

The Green Button Alliance hosted a panel session, "Bridging the Utility Data Access Gap to Enable Operational Efficiencies, New Data-driven Energy Efficiency Programs and Residential and Commercial Customer Engagement," at the 3rd Annual Demand Response & DER World Forum on 10-11 October 2016 in Chicago. GBA board member Sasha Sud of the Advanced Energy Centre, GBA board member Amy Kight Costadone of PG&E, GBA member Martha Amram of WattzOn, and Steve Nguyen of BuildingIQ participated on the panel. The panel expertly addressed innovative technologies and services enabled by AMI and real-time energy usage data and Green Button trending data, the ability to securely share that information with authorized third-parties, as well as how energy usage data, analytics and auto DR, and the energy Internet of Things (IoT) can be leveraged to engage with residential and commercial customers.

White House Summit on Scaling Renewable Energy and Storage with Smart Markets

The White House hosted a summit on Scaling Renewable Energy and Storage with Smart Markets; 16 June 2016. The Summit brought-together regulators, utilities, municipalities, and energy companies that are leading efforts to promote smart electricity markets and grid integration of renewable energy and energy storage. On behalf of the Green Button Alliance, Jeremy J. Roberts, general manager, participated and informed attendees about Green Button energy data; the powerful functionality enabled by the standard; customer privacy; and the technology’s ability to remove barriers to enable utilities and energy service companies to offer critical access to energy-use data that will drive efficiency and facilitate a modern, data-driven grid.

White House Open Data Roundtable: Open Data for Public-Private Collaboration

On 15 June 2016, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the Center for Open Data Enterprise co-hosted the fourth 2016 Open Data Roundtable: Open Data for Public-Private Collaboration. The Roundtable gathered participants from federal agencies, academia, the private sector, and nonprofit organizations to formulate views and suggestions for greater public-private collaboration in the open-data ecosystem.

Jeremy J. Roberts, Green Button Alliance, general manager, presented an overview of the Alliance, discussed the success of the Green Button public-to-private transition, and educated attendees on the benefits derived by enabling consumers to have open and easy access to their own electricity-, natural gas-, and water-usage data.

GBA is now accepting applications for certification of Green Button Download My Data (DMD)

Green Button DMD Certifications

The GBA is now accepting applications for certification of Green Button Download My Data (DMD) implementations. If you are developing, or have already implemented, a DMD solution, you can apply for certification here.

Testing your DMD files takes only a few minutes and a "Green Button Certified DMD" logo on your DMD page assures customers and app developers that your solution provides consistent Green Button data and will interoperate with other certified Green Button products and services. Your DMD solution will also be listed on the GBA's Green Button Certified Solutions page on our forthcoming new website.

The Green Button standard is currently being enhanced and the GBA is on the forefront of the development. Please feel free to participate in our working group calls:

  • Weekly OpenADE Meetings: Open Automated Data Exchange (ADE) meetings are currently focused on defining specific implementation details of the Green Button Connect My Data (CMD) standard. Meetings take place every Tuesday from 3-4pm ET.
      
  • Monthly EnergyOS OpenESPI Meetings: Meetings take place the first Monday of each month at 12-1pm ET.
